Désiré Doué - the winner 2025!

Paris Saint-Germain’s 20-year-old winger and attacking midfielder Désiré Doué was today named the winner of the 2025 Golden Boy award by Tuttosport. Doué had been one of the main favourites, so his victory didn’t come as much of a surprise.

One reason it wasn’t unexpected is that earlier this autumn he finished as runner-up for the Kopa Trophy, which was won by Lamine Yamal. Since last year’s Golden Boy winner, Yamal, can’t receive the award twice, Doué was effectively next in line for the honour.

This is why Doué won

So why did Doué win? Well, he emerged as a genuine breakout star last season with Paris Saint-Germain — the team that went on to win the UEFA Champions League. Because Doué plays in France’s Ligue 1, which generally receives less global attention than, say, the Premier League or La Liga, he wasn’t particularly well-known before the final. But in that final, where PSG completely dismantled Inter, he was clearly the man of the match. That performance put him firmly in the spotlight. You could say that match helped him secure this award — but it certainly doesn’t make him any less deserving, as he is a truly exceptional talent.
